The original members came together as a club in June 1992 under the sponsorship of a Port Huron camera store. We used the store’s club name for a while, but eventually decided to break off and have an independent club. We have been meeting on a monthly basis ever since, as Blue Water Shutterbugs. Recently, many members of another defunct club have joined ours. Each member brings richness and variety to our club. Something interesting is always going on. Our meetings are held on the second at 7:00 PM and third Wednesday at 7:00 PM of every month at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 3970 West Water Street in Port Huron, Guests (and new members) are always welcome.  The second Wednesday is an educational presentation and the third Wednesday is a competition presentation.

We also have a year long competition called the Membership Award. A topic is chosen in July and the members have one year to make a spectacular picture illustrating that topic. Examples include topics like America the Beautiful, Early America and book titles. This competition is a challenging and rewarding task.  We also travel to places of photographic interest at other times, usually on weekends. Our first exhibit as a club was at the Port Huron Museum of Art and History. We have since exhibited as a club in the Port Huron Art Fest, Port Huron Art on the Avenue, St. Clair Art Fair, Marysville Arts in the Park, Lexington Art Fair, Studio 1219 and again at the Museum. Most members have a variety of pictures for sale, ranging from framed or matted prints to note cards and bookmarks. Any of our members would be happy to work with you on a custom print or order.
